Ephemeral Collection Sashiko

Here we present a ephemeral collection of 6 blouses made with a Japanese pattern by CRUCA and a traditional Japanese Sashiko embroidery intervention by TERESA ENTRETEJIDOS.

Inspiration

Her inspiration has come from the evocative Cuban painter and sculptor Carmen Herrera, her geometric forms and her abstraction have led these two designers to create a unique collection, where stitch by stitch they have recreated the artistic universe of the painter, thus giving value to what handmade, traditional sewing and the world of art.

Tradition

Based on the small traditional Sashiko stitches, playing with the needle in several stitches along or, stitch by stitch, to form those geometries that Carmen Herrera painted in her paintings, the colors and the stitches lead us to that dialogue of the traditional and the contemporary.

Sashiko has always been used in Japanese culture as a means of repairing garments but in a beautiful and decorative way.

Here we have sewn the embroidered patch on the blouse, without the need for the garment to be torn but to make it last longer over time. The fabric used is undyed organic cotton.
